CapitalHouse is an independent Edinburgh-based newsroom focused on the city’s economy, property, and urban innovation. Our team comprises an Editor-in-Chief, Managing Editor, specialist reporters, a data journalist, and dedicated fact-checkers. Every story receives a two-stage review prior to publication.
Editorial Line
We prioritise public-interest reporting, useful guidance for professionals and residents, and explanatory analysis grounded in documents, data, and on-the-record sources. Editorial decisions are independent of commercial relationships; sponsored content is clearly labelled and kept separate from the newsroom.
Journalistic Values
Accuracy, fairness, clarity, and proportionality guide our work. We provide right of reply when feasible, disclose relevant conflicts, and attribute sources with context. Corrections are issued promptly and date-stamped on the article concerned.
Journalistic Ethics and Deontology
CapitalHouse adheres to the Editors’ Code of Practice and the NUJ Code of Conduct. We verify claims with multiple sources where possible, protect confidential sources, respect privacy and legal restrictions, and avoid undisclosed financial interests. Our reporters do not accept gifts that could influence coverage, and we distinguish news, analysis, and opinion to preserve reader trust.
